This page is a lasting record of the VALLEY 100 gauntlet that ran from 4th to 18th February 2025 on the social media platform BlueSky.
The VALLEY 100 was a 100-person experimental gauntlet where participants were given unique characters and tasked with trying to escape the Baron's castle.
Players were given room descriptions and asked to describe their characters' actions in turn via text posts on Bluesky. A simple TTRPG system I created especially for the VALLEY 100 was used to determine character success and failure.
Of the 100 characters that started the gauntlet, only 4 made it to the end of Round 5, in a cavalcade of chaos, unfair decisions and good old fashioned roleplaying fun.
I am incredibly indebted to Steph Armstrong for providing the downloadable PDF here that collates the text posts across the VALLEY 100. It's about 25,000 words long. Right now, it's not a polished retelling, but by golly it's a good start, and ensures this activity has some sort of lasting, referenceable record. This document (and this page as a whole) is a work in progress. In the future I hope to make a zine to commemorate the event.
I am also very indebted to the artists who helped bring the 100 characters to life by providing portraits: Roque Romero, Perplexing Ruins, Zach Hazard Vaupen, Chaoclypse and Amanda Lee Franck. As a bonus, Roque Romero has provided their portraits for anyone to download.

Valley 100 was SO amazing, and I am so bummed that I didn't see the notifications for the Round 1 prompts, and Arlo Tippel perished in Room 11.
I like to think Alro's disappointment in his own ability as a thief and his aversion to bloodshed left him unable to act, resulting in his demise.
